For those of you who havent read my other post...gas keeps coming out the overflow on my trx 200...I check the floats too make sure they are not damaged or sticking...I checked the needle valve too make sure its not obstructed...they were ok...what else could the problem be? I ordered a rebuild kit for it but im wondering how much it will help if the problem isnt the float or the needle valve..what the hell could it be?.....

Since the float, needle valve and needle valve seat are the only things that control the level of the fuel in the float bowl, it has to be one of those. My guess would be the needle has a groove in it or the seat is damaged. Unless of course there is a crack in the carb body somewhere
along the fuel route to the needle valve, or the seat is not sealed properly in the carb body.

Just a guess. Could there be a small hole in the bottom of your tank?

woodsrunner,
tell me a bit about the seat If you dont mind (location)...I took off the cap where the floats are..there is a small valve looking thing next to it that unscrews..All I did was unscrew it and looked inside it... too make sure its not obstructed or anyting..what exactly is the seat? and how would you tell if its busted/worn..

I did my trx 200 a couple of years ago, if I remember right the seat is not replaceable in that carb. I replaced the needle valve and it stopped the overflow problem. The float should be parrallel to the carb body when tipped upside down. The needle valve is the little silver part that opens and closes when the float raises/drops. Don't touch the neoprene end of the valve when you get a new one(so I'm told).

The carb kit will come with a new needle, which is why I suggested it.
Here's a picture of your carb taken apart. It's a bad pic but since you just had it apart you should be able to figure it out. #10 is the float bowl, #3 is the float, #14 is the float needle. What you unscrewed when you took it apart was #22. That's your main jet, it controls fuel flow into your engine from 3/4 to full throttle. What Woodsrunner is saying is that #14 could have a groove worn into it so fuel can get by even when it's seated properly. I'm sure you noticed that the float moves up and down when you had it apart, well when it's down the needle is open allowing fuel in, when the float is raised it shuts off the fuel flow. When you get your new carb kit you're gonna want to carefully slide the pin part of #3 over and out of the way, remove the float itself and then you'll see the float needle clipped to the float. Carefully remove the old one and replace it with the new one after thoroughly cleaning and drying your carb. Replace all your other pieces that came in the new kit and put it back together. Don't rush this job, take your time and it'll go ok.

floyd and djvan have already answered. I believe jdvan is correct about the seat. If the seat is bad, it means a new carb. But chances are it is the grooved needle that is causing the problem. If you look close at the tip of the needle, it will probably have a groove worn in it from seating and reseating for 20 years.
BTW, I too owned a TRX200, for almost 10 years, One h*ll of a tough little quad.
